Mr. Roy "Mountain Man" Gorski
MAAC lost a good friend and historian-collector recently, Mr. Roy "Mountain Man" Gorski. His contributions to our club were many, including being a member for many years and a Director on the MAAC board. Roy also put together many antique arms displays for MAAC and was an annual exhibitor at the Civil War Reenactment in Jackson, MI representing MAAC. He also did several displays and talks at L'Anse Creuse Middle School South playing the role of John Brown. My fondest memory of Roy was his infectious personality and desire to communicate the past through antique arms to anyone who wanted to listen. He said, "it's not about the stuff we collect, it's about the friendships and comradery we develop along the way." Roy wanted people to enjoy the history of arms collecting and felt that antique arms etc. were only props for discussion and learning. Our condolences to Roy's family and friends. Roy will always remain in our hearts as an astute historian, but most of all a great friend.
